Arm Lift (Brachioplasty)

Excessive skin and fat on the back of the upper arm is a common residual problem seen in individuals that have had significant weight loss. Although Liposuction can be uses in this area, most individuals have an excessive amount of skin in addition to the excessive fat. Armlift procedures are designed to re-establish a balance of the upper arm to the torso and lower arm. The operation is designed around a individualized pattern to remove excessive skin and subcutaneous tissue from the back of the arm. The incision is located on the back of the arm. The overall improvement in the contour of the arm can be impressive. While the procedure will certain require some recovery and wound care, the post operative pain is very manageable with oral pain medications.

Liposuction is also an option for some patients. This option has some limits since no skin will be removed. Because only small inscisions are made, the scars are clearly adventageous. However, since many patients do have excessive skin issues, this approach may not be appropriate.

During your consultation with Dr. Fulks, he will explain the nature of the procedure, the incisions, recovery as well as potential complications which will help you decide if this procedure is a good choice for you.
