1. Are breast implants safe? The safety profile for breast implants exceeds that of almost all medical implants. There is little evidence that breast implant (silicone or saline) cause any systemic medical problems. While there are certainly potential for complication with breast implants, they are not typically associated withthe implant itself. It is our feeling that patients who are having a implant of any type placed into their body be informed with up to date and accurate information.

2. How long does Botox last? Botox can typically be expected to give some favorable results for about 3-3 1/2 months. However, this is a very individualized and can exceed or fall short of these predictions. In our experience with over 2000 patients that most will have reproducable outcomes with each treatment.

3. Does it matter what kind of doctor does my surgery? As a patient, it is clearly your responsibility to know your doctor and his training. It is amazing how often patients come into our office after seeing a "non-plastic surgeon" about a possible cosmetic procedure. There are many ways to make yourself sound like something that "you are not". It is a simple question to ask a

any provider "are you a board certified plastic surgeon". Someone could claim to be board certified... but not in the speciality of plastic surgery. There is no law or agency to prevent misleading comments being made to patients concerning this question. We encourage you to ask us that question, but we equally encourage you to check with the American Board of Plastic Surgery and evaluate any provider that you are considering. You may chose to allow a non-plastic surgeon to operate on you, however, that should be an informed choice and not one with inadequate or inaccurate information. 4. Will my insurance pay for cosmetic surgery? No, it will not. However, there are numerous procedures that offer significant cosmetic improvement, but is clearly done to address medical problems. Breast Reduction, Post Cancer Breast Reconstruction, some abdominal and eyelid procedures are occasionally included in this list.
